I’m building a Discord server with Sophie Ahn for esports fans interested in learning Korean. Since July 2023, my community management initiatives have helped our server grow to over 1,400 users with close to 200 paying students for Korean Language lessons. I regularly plan and host events, study sessions, game nights, and more.
I’ve coordinated and hosted fan meet and greets with numerous professional League of Legends players including Eon-yeong “Impact” Jeong, Chang-dong “Canna” Kim, Hyuk-kyu “Deft” Kim, and many more. I coordinate schedules, compile interview questions and provide translations, and even source real-time translators for our pro players.
These events generate hundreds of thousands of impressions on Twitter/X. Events like this are open to all, and anyone can record and upload clips as long as they credit and tag us in their tweets.
Beyond the numbers, though — events like this help strengthen our community and remind us of the importance of fandom in gaming.
